Extend the UPT PRISMATIC and GENERAL with an extra value to define the angle between the principal and geometric axes

The UPT Prismatic and General are to be extended with an extra value to define the angle between the principal and geometric axes. Currently Shape Editor program calculates the sectional property about principal Axis. With the angle information, Shape Editor program will be able to calculate the sectional property about geometric Axis.

    Thank you for posting this idea. This would need to be addressed in three parts, a) extending the PRIMSMATIC and GENERAL UPT definitions to include a new ANGLE parameter to define the angle between principle and geometric axes

    b) the engine would need to add the value of ANGLE (if defined) to any BETA angle assigned to members with this property

    c) Extend the export from Shape Editor to include the ANGLE property to the export of these profiles.
    This idea has been added to the backlog

    Section properties for the section database and for user‑defined angle section are calculated with respect to the principal axes.
    If user‑defined general section do not calculate section properties with respect to the geometric axes, STAAD.Pro will no longer have a method to compute section properties based on the geometric axes.
