Inclusion of the newly released Indian Seismic Code IS 1893 (Part 1&5): 2025 in STAAD.Pro.

Since STAAD.Pro currently supports earlier IS 1893 versions, having the 2025 version integrated will be essential to ensure code-compliant analysis and safe design in India.

The 2025 revision introduces major updates:

  1. A revised earthquake zone map is introduced, which is based on probabilistic earthquake hazard assessment.

  2. The design acceleration response spectra are defined up to natural period of 10 sec.

  3. The design horizontal acceleration coefficients are specified for each earthquake zone corresponding to different return periods, for use in design.

  4. The response history method is strengthened by providing suites of ground motions for each of earthquake Zones II, III, IV, V and VI, whose response spectra envelope to be the target design response spectrum. Also, both near-fault and far-fault ground motions are provided for earthquake Zones V and VI.

  5. A method is provided to account for soil flexibility in analysis and design.

  6. The method to estimate liquefaction potential at a site is revised.

  7. The clause on protection of architectural elements and utilities in structures is introduced.
