Calculation of Ay/Az shear areas and TD/TB values for the General sections

Previously, STAAD.Pro was capable of calculating the Ay/Az shear areas when exporting non-standard shapes from the Section Wizard or when defining a General UPT section using profile points. However, in the latest versions of STAAD.Pro, the software no longer computes the shear areas or the TD/TB values when creating a UPT section via the Shape Editor. It would be beneficial if STAAD.Pro could resume calculating these parameters for custom sections, as it did in earlier versions.

Thank you for posting this idea. The determination of shear area can be defined as the cross sectional area times shape factor. This has been published for a variety of standard shapes, but we would need to have a suitable formula for a generic shape. If you can suggest that for an arbitrary shape, then that could be included. Unfortunately the method used in Section Wizard cany be extracted and the source of the method used, not given.
