Thank you for posting this idea. I am not 100% clear what clauses or edition of the code you are referencing in your attachment. The online edition of IBC 2021 shows load combinations defined in section 1605. This has indeed changed from the earlier codes as it now suggests in clause 1605.1 General that load combinations should be as defined in ASCE 7, section 2.3. It does provide an alternative set of combinations to those in ASCE 7 for designs to the ASD method in clause 1605.2 https://codes.iccsafe.org/content/IBC2021P2/chapter-16-structural-design#IBC2021P2_Ch16_Sec1605 However, I dont see the reference you provide. Please can you expand on that a little more?
