Thank you for posting this idea. It is important to separate out the idea from the opinion/discussion. The idea is to provide the attributes of the material definition used for analysis as the default grade for Canadian steel design similar to that provided for the AISC 360 design codes. I agree that that is a worthy suggestion and users of other design codes should also be campaigning for similar methods provided for those design codes. I dont think it is worthy of describing it as a bug as the current method of setting a default using values provided in the documentation is a well established rule and applies to every other design parameter even if there might be arguments for suggesting they may have other defaults that could be inferred from the analytical model. However, I will modify the idea definition so that it describes this request and add it to the backlog for due consideration.
