checking to the current AISC 360 code (which has both ASD and LRFD methods). YES, Confirmed. Tension and Compression only.
Regarding the rules, at present STAAD can check the single angle (truss) therefore regarding the Angle Star we can use the same AISC rule. I think that the problem is only that STAAD cannot load correctly the static parameters (Inertia, Radius of gyration, etc) in the correct way. May be only a minor BUG in the program when you select the SA Star Arrangement (radio button) in the Section Profile Table - Section database
Thank you for posting this idea. I assume you are referring to providing this functionality for checking to the current AISC 360 code (which has both ASD and LRFD methods). The code does not specifically describe design of star angles so what rules are you suggesting should be followed?
Implementing Code Check (AISC LRFD) Angle in Star configuration (Tension and Compression only) will be very useful and appreciate
