Steel structure optimization for tapered sections and built-up section

Optimization of steel structure in staad pro as per (Indian code like IS-800 _2007, IS-801 etc. has many limitations till now. It has to be resolved earlier, Some of limitations are ~ optimization for tapered sections not supported by staad ~ optimization for built-up sections, plate girders, members with plate on top and bottom flanges, members with stiffeners etc. not supported by staad pro. ~Also, optimization for some sections that has not been covered here, not supported by staad pro, This needs to resolve and incorporate in staad pro for Indian steel design codes.

Thank you for posting this idea. However, can you suggest how you think STAAD should be optimising tapered profiles? There are multiple attributes of a tapered I shape that can be changed, e.g. end depth, flanges top and bottom both thickness and width and the width of the web. Which should be changed and by what amount? Perhaps show a scenario where the engineer has defined a taper and then what controls they define and finally how that might result in an the ultimate profile.
