Thank you. This will be added to the backlog for due consideration/prioritisation.
ASME STS-1-2021 has allowable stresses that start in Section 4.4 and go through Section 4.8. Nearly everything that needs to be added is in Section 4.4, and there is not too much. In general, the first statement is a ratio; if that ratio does not apply then the structural defaults to AISC, which is already in the program.
Can you provide a list of the sections of the code you therefore suggest the program would need to meet.
This is nothing related to plate or shell elements like in an FEA. It is merely a structural code.
Basically, depending on one ratio, ASME will default to AISC 15th Edition. If it meets this, then STAAD only has to meet the ASME code if the ratio is not met. In other terms, I'm recommending STAAD add ASME STS-1 2021 as a deign code option. When reading ASME, there is not much more to be done. Wind loads come from ASCE 7, so no update there either.
Thank you for posting this request. The standard you are suggesting is for the design of 'Steel Stacks'. Without having the code, perhaps you can expand on what it is in the code you would like to see STAAD to design? Is there a section on member design or are you looking for steel plate design? What sections/clause do think would be involved?
