Steel design control width selection

When selecting a suitable beam to connect to a column, the width of the flanges of the beam should be limited to the width of the column. There is currently control of member depth in most design codes using the parameters DMIN and DMAX, but if there were complimentary parameters WMIN and WMAX, to control the width when using the MEMBER SELECT command, then the design can pick profiles that will be suitable for the columns they are to connect too.
