Moving Loads Acting in Horizontal Directions

Provide the ability to have horizontal moving loads in addition to the vertical loads. For example, ASCE 7 requires cranes to be designed for vertical loads and horizontal loads. It would be great if STAAD had the ability to have both the vertical and horizontal loads in the moving loads.

I have just uploaded an OpenSTAAD macro on the Bentley Communities site, https://communities.bentley.com/products/ram-staad/b/analysis_and_design_blog/posts/moving-loads-with-openstaad to give you a head start as you can modify it as you might desire.

Agreed. Your idea on the other topic could address this one too. I would say that both ideas are valid and the OpenSTAAD idea could handle both of these ideas. I think it would be very beneficial to have the ability to apply loads in any direction and to have them move in any of the global directions.

Thank you for posting this idea. I see you have also posted another on a similar topic, but with the goal of having loads be generated in the vertical direction. Do you see this other the other idea as more important? I have posted a suggested way that the vertical load idea could be addressed which I believe would also address this one too. Would you agree?
