As suggested by earlier engineers, for heavy industrial sheds with crane girders, generally two I sections like ISMB400 spaced apart at 1m distance are used as crane columns . This will support the crane on either side. Single I section Roof column is taken above as seen in image 1. We do not have facility in STAAD to design double I sections with lacing or battening. This provision is very much required.
Thank you for posting this idea. It would help if your description included the details of the requirement. What specification are you looking for the design to meet? Is there a specific document that you can point too? I assume you are expecting it to meet IS800:2007 LSD requirements, but is there a publication that you would STAAD to follow/make use of? Are you thinking that this is for the design of back to back channels, front to front channels, back to back angles, or anything else? Please can you be more specific.
